Fort Lesley J. McNair –
On Tuesday, January 28th, National Defense University President Vice Admiral Fritz Roegge presided over the induction of one of NDU’s most eminent alumni into the university’s International Hall of Fame at a memorable ceremony held at Fort Lesley J. McNair.
General Andika Perkasa of Indonesia, a distinguished graduate of the National War College class of 2004, became 71st member of the Hall of Fame , which By achieving this great accolade, General Perkasa is honored in attaining the most prestigious of positions within the ranks of Indonesia’s armed forces. The award further serves to recognize the great extent and distinction of the General’s years of military service.
General Perkasa was appointed to become Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army in 2018, and currently serves in that capacity. His career has spanned experience in special operations through the renowned Kopassus unit, command in a large array of capacities, and public relations of the Indonesian Army. The General has also demonstrated diligent interest in academic accomplishment, earning degrees not only at the National War College, but at Norwich University in Vermont and later pursuing studies at Harvard and George Washington Universities.
General Perkasa was adamant in addressing the importance of collaboration in addressing national and international security interests. He further reiterated how thankful he is for the relationships formed during his time at NDU, emphasizing the vital role they play in maintaining peace and stability throughout otherwise divisive and challenging times.
NDU is very pleased to welcome the General to the ranks of the International Hall of Fame, both in acknowledgement of his extensive contributions to international security and in expectation of great strides toward peace and collaboration yet to come. His photo is now permanently displayed on the IHOF Wall of Fame in Marshall Hall.
