Invitations are with the Joint Staff for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff signature.  We are planning for them to be sent within the next 30-45 days to each country’s Chief of Defense.  The invitations will formally invite the CHOD to include all alumni (cited by name) to attend the Seminar/Reunion. Additionally, you will receive an individual invitation from us sometime in the next 30 days.  Check your emails (and don’t forget to check your junk email folder).  An announcement will be posted on our website and via Facebook when the invites go out.  Your SCO will receive a copy as well.  If there is anyone else you need us to cc, please let us know.

Preparations for the 2017 Quadrennial International Alumni Continuing Education Seminar and Reunion are in full swing! As a reminder, the event will be held at the National Defense University, Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington D.C, 19 – 21 September, 2017.  Academic and social sessions will be 18-21.  An icebreaker evening no-host social will be held 18 Sep. An optional DC visits day will be available 21 Sep.

The three-day seminar will have as guests a number of key figures from the U.S. Armed Forces as well as other leading security experts, who will speak on a wide variety of issues of both regional and global interest.  Some of the leading contenders for discussion are:

The American Political Landscape and National Security Seminar

Global Economic Trends and Their Security Implications

Western Hemisphere Security Challenges

China and the South China Sea

Russian Strategic Interests

Counterterrorism and Irregular Warfare

Additionally, we will have scheduled “college days” and alumni presentations.  All panels/topics are still tentative.

We are also hoping to induct several graduates into our International Hall of Fame.  National Defense University is extremely proud of the achievements of its international alumni and this event is an opportunity for the university to recognize you and your achievements.  Please join us at this event to recognize others’ accomplishments and to renew your ties to NDU, the United States, and the international alumni network.  We hope to see you here!
