This week NDU lost a dear friend and colleague, Brigadier General Muhammad Hasnain from Pakistan. He just recently graduated as a member of the CISA Class of 2017. General Hasnain was traveling from Lahore to Islamabad to assume command of his new unit when he lost his life in a terrible car accident.

General Muhammad Hasnain was a devoted father, husband, and an exceptional Army officer of the Pakistan Armed Forces. Arriving at NDU as a Lieutenant Colonel, he was to pin his first star in Islamabad the day of the auto accident. General Hasnain showed great promise and potential as another exemplary leader in his armed forces and country. General Hasnain was attentive and dedicated to the demands of his profession. Below is a testament of General Hasnain’s exceptional character, commitment to joint security cooperation, and extraordinary professionalism while attending NDU.

“Throughout the academic year, General Hasnain demonstrated great dedication and interest in his work, excellent analytical skills, and practical insights. This investment in time and effort is reflected in the quality of his final thesis, which is a standard-bearer for both academically oriented and policy-relevant work.”

“His presence was an important factor in enhancing the understanding of our American and International students and further integrating the importance of Pakistan in our strategic studies program.”

General Muhammad Hasnain is survived by his wife and four daughters.

Please keep General Hasnain, his wife and his four daughters in your thoughts and prayers. Notes of condolences can be sent to Faith Ssebikindu, Director of Continuing Engagement, at faith.ssebikindu.civ@gc.ndu.edu and they will be forwarded along to the family.
